VB: Best start in recent years

The North Marion volleyball team is off to its best start in more than a decade after winning the first two games of its league schedule to extend its current win streak to six games.
The Huskies (8-3, 2-0 Oregon West Conference) swept the hosting Newport Cubs 3-0 (26-24, 25-12, 25-13) on Sept. 13 and continued its strong play at Yamhill-Carlton High School on Thursday, beating the Tigers 3-1.
North Marion is one game away from matching last year’s win total and has accumulated all of its wins this season on the road. The Huskies were scheduled to return home to host the Philomath Warriors (4-5, 2-0 OWC) on Tuesday before going back on the road to play Stayton (3-6, 0-2) on Thursday.
