Participating in school approved athletics is a privilege that involves certain additional responsibilities.  All student-athletes are expected to conform to the following regulations if they choose to participate as a member of a North Marion High School athletic team.  Athletic participants must meet Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) and North Marion High School and District behavioral and academic standards.  Refer to the NMHS Athletic Activities Handbook for current standards.

 

  • Academic

    • Must have passed four classes the preceeding trimester and OSAA requirement for progress towards graduation.

      • ​Students need 25 credits to graduate from North Marion High School.​

      • Students need to have the following credits heading in to the fall athletic season:

        • ​Prior to 10th Grade: 4.5 credits

        • Prior to 11th Grade: 10.5 credits

        • Prior to 12th Grade: 17.5 credits

    • Be in attendance at school all day (unless prearranged) before being allowed to particpate or compete on that day.

    • Be in school 1st period the day after a competition to participate in the next competition.

    • A student who becomes 19 years old before August 19 shall be ineligible.

  • Medical

    • Must pass an athletic medical examination or have one on file prior to the first offcial practice. 

    • Physicals are good for two years from the date of the examination.

  • Insurance

    • Students must show proof of medical insurance prior to athletic participation. 

    • The school district makes available a student insurance program through an independent insurance carrier.  This is not required; it is a matter for each family to decide.  Some form of insurance must cover students who take part in the athletic program.  Copies of a brochure describing the program are available in the high school office.

  • Travel

    • All students are required to travel to and from all athletic contests in school approved vehicles. 

    • Deviations from this require approval by the coach, athletic director or principal.

  • Conduct

    • Athletes will conduct themselves in a manner, which brings credit to their team, school, and community.

    • Athletes will abide by published training standards, which prohibit the use of alcohol, tobacco (in any form)and narcotics.

    • Athletes will dress and appear as stipulated by the coach of each sport.

    • Athletes will abide by published expectations distributed by each coach.

    • Athletes and parents need to sign and turn in a completed Code of Conduct form. 

 

 

Pay-to-Play Fee

•$125.00 per student-athlete per sport

•No discount for playing three sports

•Student who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunches , $50.00 per sport

(release of information form must be on file to receive credit)

•Family Caps

•2 student-athletes - $500.00 per year

•3 or more student-athletes - $700.00 per year

•No caps for individual student-athletes

*All fees/fines/dues (present or current) must be paid prior to any participation.
