WRS: North Marion places third at Perry Burlison

JO WHEAT - North Marion sophomore Russel Stigall was one of three Huskies to win bracket championships at the Perry Burlison Classic at Cascade High School. He was joined by brother Lane Stigall and cousin Levin Wing as champions, helping North Marion place third overall at the tournament.

The North Marion wrestling team enjoyed a strong debut in Saturday's season-opening tournament at Cascade High School.

Led by bracket champions Russel Stigall (126 pounds), Lane Stigall (152) and Levi Wing (182), the Huskies placed eight of 14 wrestlers entered at the Perry Burlison Classic to finish third overall at the 23-team tournament.

The Huskies scored 145 points, finishing behind 4A state championship rivals Sweet Home (152.5) and tournament champion Marshfield (183).

In addition to the Stigall brothers and Wing, the Huskies got third-place finishes out of Alec Roberts at 170 pounds and Brandon Gibson at 132 pounds.

Saul Tarula placed fourth in the 138-pound bracket, while teammates Cristian Ramirez and Travis Randall took home sixth-place finishes in the 106- and 152-pound brackets, respectively.
