Rafael started with the North Marion School District as an English Language Learner Instructional Assistant in 2001. His coaching experience includes middle school boys and girls basketball as well as track and field. At North Marion High School, Palaez took the reigns of a perrenially-contending Huskies soccer program in 2011. After advancing to the state playoffs for the third consecutive season, North Marion finally broke through and won a state playoff game in 2014. Palaez’s club didn’t stop there, however, as the Huskies brought home the hardware by virtue of a 2-0 win in the state championship game over league rival, Stayton.
